St Patricks Day Tralee 2014

Tralee on St Patricks Day 2014 was a spectacle of colour as large crowds gathered in the Kerry capital to celebrate our national day.The weather stayed pleasant long enough which added to everyones  enjoyment.Members of Tralee businesses and community groups came together to put on a fantastic parade.There was a large number of floats in the parade on view.Tralee is a very diverse town and this was reflected by the varied themes on display.

Tralee GAA Clubs

All the GAA clubs in Tralee were represented with Austin Stacks,Kerins ORahillys,Na Gaeil and John Mitchells all fielding impressive amounts of young and old eager to fly their club colours.

Tralee Voluntary Community

Tralee has a strong community and volunteering spirit which was well represented.Organisations like the Irish Red Cross,The Samaritans,St Vincent De Paul are the backbone of behind the scenes activity on a daily basis.

The parade started at 11:45 with floats gathering outside the Austin Stacks GAA ground.From there it made is way down Boherbee onto Castle Street.There was barely enough room on the footpath for the large amount of spectators gathered to celebrate the national day in Tralee.Eventually the parade snaked its way down Denny Street.This is where the official viewing was with members of Tralee political community seated on the back of a lorry gave their official seal of approval.

Tralee Drowns The Shamrock

All the participants dispersed at the entrance to the town park.A good few probably headed to some of Tralees fine drinking establishments to drown the shamrock.There was plenty of music and craic to be had in An Teach Beag,Paddy Macs,Bailys Corner and The Grand Hotel.
